We are excited to announce that G & M.B. Manning has rebranded as Walford Timber.
G & M.B. Manning has proudly served the communities of Bucks, Berks, Hertfordshire, and the surrounding areas for over 60 years. The business became part of the Walford Timber family in 2017.
This year, as Walford Timber celebrates 80 years as a trusted, family-run business, we have united our branches under a single name: Walford Timber.
Why Rebrand?
G & M.B. Manning was founded in Ashley Green, near Chesham, in the late 1950s. The Manning family began as smallholders and started selling surplus fencing materials to neighbouring landowners and farmers. This modest activity soon grew, transforming the business into a specialist fencing and timber supplier for the local area.
In 2017, G & M.B. Manning joined the Walford Timber family, which was already a major supplier to the company. Since then, the business has grown and diversified. While traditional yard sales remain central to what we do, the company has embraced selling through its website and other digital channels — areas that have evolved dramatically in recent years.
Walford Timber Ltd, founded in 1945, remains family-owned and operated. As manufacturers and suppliers of fencing and outdoor timber products, Walford Timber has supplied stockists, installers, property owners, tradespeople, and the general public from its Wye Valley location since its inception.
In 2004, Walford Timber expanded by opening a branch in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, trading as Cheltenham Fencing, to reach a broader regional market. To further extend our reach, we were delighted to acquire G & M.B. Manning in 2017, which has since operated as a division of Walford Timber.
Now, as Walford Timber marks its 80th anniversary, we have decided to unite all branches under the single trading name of Walford Timber. This move aims to build on the company’s rich heritage, simplify our branding and messaging, and streamline and enhance our digital presence.
What Does This Mean for You?
For our physical sites, the only changes you’ll notice are new signage, uniforms, and vehicle livery. The same great team will continue to serve you, offering the same high-quality products. We will now be branded as the Chesham branch of Walford Timber Ltd.
In the coming months, you can also look forward to further improvements and developments on our website. These updates will enhance the customer experience and make purchasing even easier.
