Installer Network: Feather Edged Fencing by DBS Fencing and Landscapes
What makes this project special?
A local resident had an ageing and failing fence. His property borders on to a car dealership so he wanted to replace it with a strong and resilient fence that would have the longest life possible.
About the product
Dean Smith of DBS Fencing and Landscapes recommended using Featheredge boards supported on Arris rails and pre-notched posts to give the fence the strength required. However, the customer wanted all the benefits of concrete posts and gravel boards but preferred the look of wooden products. Dean suggested giving the fence extra support by using concrete repair spurs.
The fencing was constructed using 100x125mm pre-notched PermaTimber® posts, 75mm arris rails, 1.65m feather edge boards, 3m concrete gravel boards and 100x100mm concrete repair spurs. The posts were secured in the ground using rapid setting Post Mix and the fencing was finished with capping and counter rails on top to protect the end grain of the feather edge boards.
