It’s always better to repair damage as soon as it happens as the longer you leave it, the greater the risk the damage will spread as time goes on leading to more expensive repairs or the need to replace badly broken sections.
We recommend you closely inspect along the length of your fence looking for loose timbers and posts. Sometimes a tap with a hammer on existing nails is all that is required.
Pay particular attention to your fence posts making sure they’re sturdy and secure in the ground. If a post appears loose, it may be worth digging out around it and pouring additional post mix around it. If you are concerned about the condition of the post itself, another option is to fit a concrete spur to bolster the fence.
If you’re happy that everything is still sturdy, one last important thing to do is apply a fresh coat of timber treatment to help extend the life of your timber. We recommend Ronseal Fencing Stain that can be applied by either a brush or sprayed.
